Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program
The province of Newfoundland and Labrador consists of two separate land areas: Labrador, which is connected to mainland Canada, and the nearby island of Newfoundland. Most of the residents live in the capital of the province of St. John’s, which is located in the southeast of the island on the Atlantic coast. The province has recently become a significant economic force thanks to a boom in energy and natural resources.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program is designed for immigrants with the skills and experience required by the province. Successful candidates can obtain a nomination certificate of the province which will speed up the process of application for permanent residence in Canada.
Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program consist of the following immigration categories:
- Newfoundland & Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker
- Skilled Worker Category
- International Graduate Category
Newfoundland & Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker
The Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker category allows nominating qualified employees who have a job offer through the federal Express Entry system. Potential immigrants who have been registered with the Federal Express Entry system may apply for the Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker category. Persons nominated for this program will receive additional points on the Comprehensive Ranking System, as a result of which they will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Skilled Worker Category
The NLPNP accepts applications in this category from individuals who have received a guaranteed job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador. Persons who are currently working in the province with a valid work permit may also apply in this category.
International Graduate Category
This category is designed for applicants who are graduates of Canadian higher education institutions who remain in Canada with a postgraduate work permit. Candidates must also have either a job or an invitation to work from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador and must work at the time of application in a position that corresponds with their educational training.
