On July 6, 2018, Manitoba held a new draw from the Expression of Interest pool of candidates. In the Manitoba Skilled Workers Overseas – Express Entry substream, the cut-off score has dropped to 519. Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited in this round is 26 points lower than the previous lowest score of 545 as of March 19, 2018. The lowest score in the previous two rounds, on June 21 and May 31, was 562 and 584 respectively. We hope this trend will continue. In this round, the Province issued 202 Letters of Advice to Apply to candidates who have a valid Express Entry Profile, job seeker validation code, and at least 6 months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-demand Occupations list.
In the same draw, 32 candidates were invited directly by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited was 639. Another 217 Letters of Advice to Apply were issued to the candidates who have satisfied the following criteria, namely: having a close relative residing in Manitoba or past education or work experience in Manitoba; having at least 6 months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-demand Occupations list; and a minimum of required language proficiency. Ranking score of lowest-ranked candidate invited was 572. Finally, another 104 skilled workers with a ranking score of 564 and higher, who already live in Manitoba, received Letters of Advice to Apply.
The Province of Manitoba designed its own Expression of Interest (EOI) system. This EOI has a unique points system that assigns candidates a score out of 1,000. This system differs from the Federal Express Entry.
