IRCC Unveils Its 2022 Year-End Express Entry Report
On September 26, IRCC published its annual report for Express Entry in 2022.
The report reveals that 24 Express Entry draws yielded 46,539 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) during the year. This number is significantly lower, marking a 59% decrease compared to 2021, when IRCC issued 114,431 ITAs.
The decline is primarily attributed to a pause in Express Entry draws for Federal High Skilled programs from September 2021 to July 2022.
Besides, in 2022, most Express Entry ITAs were extended to candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (19,258) and the Canadian Experience Class (18,895).
Candidates got the remaining 8,386 ITAs under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, while IRCC did not issue Express Entry invitations through the Federal Skilled Trades Program in 2022.
Among the various occupations receiving ITAs, candidates in roles such as software engineers, designers, information systems specialists, computer systems developers, and programmers were the most common. Food service supervisors and cooks also saw a significant number of ITAs.
Furthermore, residents of Canada received over 30,000 of the ITAs. Most of the remaining ITAs were awarded to candidates residing in India (3,787) or Nigeria (1,730).
