Restaurant Associates in Canada have an opening for a full-time BUTCHER position.
Job Summary: Butcher needed to skillfully prepare and cut various types of meats, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include trimming, deboning, portioning, and maintaining cleanliness. Join our team for a rewarding role in delivering exceptional meat products and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works directly with supplier representative(s) to determine order details and price.
- Receives, inspects, and stores meat following food safety and sanitation standards.
- Records and tracks the quantity of meat received and issued to cooks or keeps records of meat sales.
- Estimates requirements and orders or requisitions meat supplies to maintain inventories.
- Cuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds meats (beef, pork, poultry, fish) to prepare for cooking; cures, smokes, tenderizes, and preserves the essence.
- In addition, maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, display, storage areas, supplies, and utensils within the work area.
- Handles food items with safety regulations in mind during preparation and service.
- Prepares and places meat cuts and products on the display counter.
- Prepares custom cuts of meat as ordered by customers or for meals.
- Shapes, laces, and ties roasts using a boning knife, skewer, and twine.
- Wraps, weighs, labels, and prices cuts of meat.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a butcher or in a similar role is preferred.
- Proficient knife skills and knowledge of different cuts of meat.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Physical stamina and strength for standing, lifting, and manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail for accurate portioning and presentation of meat.
- Lastly, good communication and customer service skills.
Job Conditions:
Monthly salary: Varies according to experience, from $19-$30 an hour.
