In the most recent Express Entry draw IRCC extended invitations to 1,040 candidates. In this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 543.
Navigating the Express Entry Landscape in 2024: A Recap and Future Outlook
In the second draw of 2024, which followed the January 10 draw, IRCC invited 1,510 candidates. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 546.
December 2023 proved eventful, with IRCC conducting seven separate Express Entry draws. Among these, two were all-program draws, while the remaining five focused on specific categories. Such as French language proficiency, trades, transport, STEM, agriculture, and agri-food occupations.
Throughout 2023, IRCC conducted 42 Express Entry draws, 19 being all-program draws (now called general draws). Additionally, 17 category-based selection draws took place between late June and December. Five draws were exclusively for Express Entry candidates nominated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). And one specifically for Federal Skilled Worker candidates.
As the dynamics of Express Entry draws have become less predictable, forecasting results for 2024 remain challenging. Despite the uncertainty, the Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026 outlines the department’s goal of admitting 110,770 new permanent residents to Canada in 2024. This target aligns with the broader aim of issuing enough Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to meet the 2025 admissions target of 117,500. Given the processing time of up to six months for an Express Entry application, IRCC will issue many invitations in 2024.
