On Saturday, The Canadian government announced the introduction of a new pathway in October, granting Ukrainians in Canada the opportunity to apply for permanent residence.
Starting from October 23, 2023, this new pathway will be accessible to Ukrainians in Canada who hold temporary resident status and have at least one family member residing in Canada. The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has assured that they’ll provide further details leading up to the program’s launch in October.
Eligible individuals, as specified by the IRCC, include Ukrainian spouses, common-law partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, or grandchildren of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.

Once in Canada with a TRV, Ukrainians and their families can extend their stay for up to three years through study permits and open work permits, with priority given by the IRCC. Moreover, they will have access to settlement services, including language training and employment support.
Since its launch in March 2022, the CUAET has facilitated the relocation of over 166,000 Ukrainians to Canada.
