On August 8, 2018, British Columbia held a new round of invitations for British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). 405 candidates were invited within the five provincial streams. The BC PNP has issued invitations to apply to qualified registrants in Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories, and to registrants from the Entrepreneur Immigration stream.
The minimum score in this round of invitation was different in various categories:
- Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker – 82
- Skills Immigration – International Graduate – 91
- Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled – 65
- Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker – 81
- Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate – 91
HealthCare Professional and International Post-Graduate applicants under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams do not need an invitation to apply. The provincial government allows them to apply directly via BCPNP Online.
The number and frequency of invitations to apply are based on annual nomination allocations from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and the ability of the province to process applications.
In addition to the above-mentioned immigration stream, in August 2017 British Columbia has successfully launched the Tech Pilot Under the BC PNP. In this stream, the government issue weekly invitations to qualified registrants with valid job offers in the key technology occupations. The BC PNP Tech Pilot is designed for specialists from a list of 32 eligible occupations important for British Columbia’s technology sector, which is a major driver of economic growth in the province, with tech employment at its highest level ever recorded. The demand for talent in BC’s tech sector is increasing faster than the supply. The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended until June 2019. This Nominee Program, which was just implemented last year, has been well received. Some candidates received a nomination in one day.
