OINP – Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), also known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), is the primary means of immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker.

The Ontario PNP comprises two types of streams: Base streams and Enhanced streams. Enhanced streams are in alignment with Canada’s Express Entry System. The federal government utilizes Express Entry to manage permanent residency applications for the country’s three major economic class immigration programs.

The OINP enables skilled immigrants with qualifications and expertise. That aligns with the province’s need to obtain a provincial nomination from Ontario. This nomination allows them to pursue Canadian permanent residency by applying to IRCC.

Base streams are the streams that do not synchronize with the Express Entry system. When candidates receive a provincial nomination, they must apply directly to IRCC.
